Have you noticed a new face in the office adjacent to Commons? New to some, but known and beloved to many is Ms. Scott, our new Upper School Assistant and Bryn Mawr alumna, Class of 1997. Below, Ms. Scott comments on her experience at Bryn Mawr and her excitement around being back in the community. Read to hear more and learn some fun facts!
Q: First, I was wondering if you could walk me through how you found your way back here. Where did you go after Bryn Mawr?
When I left Bryn Mawr, I went to college, and I met my husband there and started a family rather early. So since leaving Bryn Mawr, I did some college, and then I started basically raising my family, and did some work to help support my family. I found my way back here through Miss Evans.
Q: How does student life compare now, to when you were a student?
I do see a lot of it, I, you know, I'm in the fish bowl, so I'm looking at you guys, I'm hearing you guys, and you're very much like we were back then. I think that you guys also have a lot of different circumstances to deal with, especially just coming out of a pandemic. [...] But sports are still the same, talking about your crushes you know, the newest songs and movies and stuff. I hear all of that out here, and it's pretty much, you know, very similar, or the same, to the way it was back then.
Q: What were some of your favorite classes?
Some of my favorite classes? So, gym, but that's, you know, that's a funny answer. I actually started to really enjoy math towards the end of my time here at Bryn Mawr, I got into logic and statistics, and so now I have a real passion for numbers and statistics. I'm a big fantasy sports player, so I use statistics big time when I'm trying to get my teams together and pick out my line up. So I learned that at Bryn Mawr. So, yeah, that was probably math. And I always like languages, so when I started at Bryn Mawr fourth grade, French was one of my favorites, and then eventually Spanish became one of my favorites as well.
Q: Do you remember the person who had your job when you're here?
Mrs. Weber. This was the woman that you go to for everything. She knew everything about Bryn Mawr, you know, you could ask her anything. And she knew where to send you, who to talk to, how to do it, when to do it, why to do it, you know, all of those good things. So I am trying to step into her shoes, as Mrs. Rice’s, who had been here, from what I understand, for quite some time.
Q: Do you have any pets?
I do. I have two dogs currently, Maggie and Rosy.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
My hobbies are sports, sports and more sports. I've been into sports and ever since I can remember, since I was here at Bryn Mawr. So I love fantasy sports. I love watching sports.
Q: What's your favorite part of your job?
I love dealing with the students. I love talking to you guys. I like hearing what you are saying. I love seeing you guys. It's so reminiscent of my days here at Bryn Mawr. Really makes me feel happy to be back here. I didn't realize how much I missed it here. I really had a good experience here.
